Here are the basic steps to get Mobile number portability (MNP)
1)Type PORT <Your Mobile number> send to 1900
2)After sending SMS you will Get an UPC(Unique  Porting Code) code.
3)Visit the nearest outlet of the network you want to switch for eg: if you want to go for Docomo go for Docomo store,for vodafone visit Vodafone mini store similarly for Airtel, idea & others.
4)Provide details like  MNP code, ID proof,Photo,Operator name.
5)Pay 19 Rs MNP charge & get the new SIM card for free from store
6)It will take 7 days to complete the procedure, after that you will be able to use new sim card
7)You will be getting initial talk time of 10Rs from operator end.


Terms & conditions for MNP
In order to switch to new mobile operator keeping same number, you need to be an active user in current network for 90 days
You should not have any negative balance.


Note: If you go to any small retail outlets & ask for MNP they usually charge 30Rs for the process.
